MAUI PADDLING HUI (MPH) MAUI to MOLOKAI (M2M) 2023

April 22 @ Kaunakakai, HI, United States

GENERAL INFO

HUGE MAHALO TO OZONE & KAI WA'A, FOR THEIR GENEROUS SPONSORSHIP!

Aloha Paddlers !!! Maui Paddlng Hui is so thrilled to announce that the M2M race is on for 2023 !! Since we haven't been doing this race for the last few years, and after much deliberation and important conversations with our neighboring island, we are bringing back this race but on a smaller scale. It will be open to HAWAII RESIDENTS ONLY this year as we iron out wrinkles and figure out how to be less of an imposition to Molokai’s day-to-day life. One of the biggest impacts for them has been our use of flights. Please don’t book an outgoing flight post race. More details to come.  We are doing our best to keep a good relationship with Molokai and the Harbor divisions.
As of now, we will be managing the registrations as follow:

ALLOTMENTS

100 for Maui/Molokai and MPH Sponsors.     Registration open  March 13th 08:00 am to March 24th 2023 midnight

100 entries for Oahu/Big Island/Kauai.          Registration open March 27th 08:00 to April 7th 2023 midnight

Unfortunately for this year, we will NOT be able to accept ANY registration for Mainland or International paddlers.  We are just starting again post-covid, and we need to keep our numbers low for this year.  We understand that this situation is not ideal, but we need to ease back into this event and re-establish our relationship with Molokai and its residents.

ALL REGISTERED PADDLERS:

Residencies will be verified.
If asked, you will need to send us a copy of your driver's license or a utility bill from Hawaii.

Be sure you are accurate to avoid entry cancellation.
The MPH Registration Team is sorting through all registrations to verify residency, qualifying information, and entry details as quick as possible. Due to the huge volume of emails and registrations, we have not sent out any confirmation of spots in the race yet. We hope to have most of these out as quickly as possible, however, the paddlers without qualifying race times may take longer to research. We appreciate your patience.
Have fun and be safe out there.
-the MPH Registration Team

IF YOU DO NOT SELECT AND PAY FOR YOUR ENTRY FEE
OR IF YOU DO NOT SELECT THE CORRECT RESIDENCY CATEGORY, YOUR ENTRY CAN BE CANCELLED

Additionally, for OC-1 Relay or 2 man vessel, EACH paddler in your crew
must complete their registration individually by joining your "team"

2023 Maui Paddling Hui (MPH) M2M Race – April 22nd, 2023

MPH’s mission is encouraging participation and competition of OC-1, OC-2, and Surfskis as well as general paddler sports on the Island of Maui. With the growth in popularity of the M2M race, we are challenged with keeping the race both safe and accessible to local paddlers, while still providing the opportunity to compete against worldwide talent. Qualifying criteria and entry allotments have been adjusted to manage these challenges. Race is capped at 200 boats total.

EXPERIENCE & CUT-OFF TIME

  • This race is for paddlers with experience in rough open ocean experience only. Conditions are unpredictable and safety is our primary goal.
  • Race Cutoff time is 4 hours and 30 minutes at which point paddlers still on the course may be picked up by the MPH safety patrol or be required to be picked up by their escort boat.
